Freight Lines Founder, Jim Barker and his wife Beverley together with Jim’s Sister Cynthia Dow and her Husband Dennis began the Otorohanga Transport Group in 1963, servicing the livestock cartage market.

In 1993 Jim and his son Peter identified the potential for an increased demand in Linehaul, Bulk and General Freight, which resulted in the establishment of Freight Lines Limited.

Late 2007 saw a restructure of the Otorohanga Transport Group, which bought about the formation of the Jim Barker Group of companies.

In 2016 Freight Lines, Strait Shipping and Streamline was purchased by CHAMP Private Equity.
